Big Blue Sky

I am not a fan of flying. I can’t figure out whether it’s because I have a bizarre neurotic need to control everything and on an airplane I’m completely helpless or I’m just uncomfortable with people being hurtled through the sky at hundreds of miles an hour with only the ground underneath them. Regardless, I am not a good flier.

No amount of crazy measurement could add all the worry I accumulate when I fly, but it is truly nothing compared to what I rally around my brain when my family is flying. Michael is flying to Boston today and until he actually sets foot in Boston at 12:00 p.m. I will not be able to eat, rest, or otherwise sit still. For those of you who know what I’m talking about I’ve found Flight Aware, a website that does all the worrying for you. Flight Aware will tell me what time the plane is scheduled to leave vs what time it actually left, what time it’s scheduled to land vs what time it actually landed, and it will show me the flight path, photos of the plane and even send me email alerts. Isn’t technology amazing?

So, the next time your family member flies, try Flight Aware and you will be surprised how less bizarrely neurotic you feel!
