Bow Wow Beds‘ owners Amberlii and Kent promise that “Every pet bed cover, dog crate cover, pet bed liner and furniture coverlet protector is made to order with great care and attention to detail.” As a past customer of Bow Wow Beds I am here to personally assure you that is absolutely and positively not true. After my purchase last month of two dog bed duvets and liners from their Etsy store I was out over $100 and left feeling downright Regretsy about the whole situation.
After placing and paying for my order on December 10, 2011, I assumed that the bed covers and liners would be assembled and shipped sometime before the new year, but I was sadly mistaken. On December 23, 2011, Amberlii told me “We quote on the shop policies page anywhere from 7-20 business days to completion depending upon when the fabric arrives. Right now with the Holidays I am running close to the 20 business days.” Twenty business days would have had my order in my hands by January 6, 2012, at the very latest.
On January 10, 2012, I inquired again about the status of my order and was told “Your order will be shipping this week. Thanks again and sorry I couldn’t have everything sewn and shipped sooner!” For those of you who are still with me, January 10th is a Tuesday and by January 13, 2012, (Friday) at 5:30 p.m. I inquired once more regarding the status and was told, “I finished sewing your order today. You will automatically get the tracking number when I print the shipping label with Stamps.com either this evening or tomorrow. Still on schedule to ship this week on Saturday!”
As promised on January 14, 2012, 35 days after I placed the order I received a non-functioning tracking number from Stamps.com (the United States Postal Service had been notified that there was a package ready, but the package had not been delivered to the post office as yet). Needless to say, I was furious, but I needed bed covers and liners for my dogs’ beds. I love my dogs and my dogs make me happy. Here they are, Madeline and Blue, respectively. See, happy!
So, I did what any self-respecting pet owner would do, I waited. To be fair to Amberlii, January 16, 2012, was MLK day, which means Stamps.com was not delivering much of anything until Tuesday, January 17, 2012, which is when the tracking number started working, a full 38 days after I placed my order, which I finally received on January 19, 2012.
Now, remember I ordered duvet covers and liners, NOT bedding material which means the bedding material that I had in my home was purchased very specifically to fit the covers that Bow Wow Beds made. The listing plainly says that each cover would be 25 inches by 38 inches, except that is not what I received. I received two bed duvets measuring 24 inches by 35 inches, which means my 70 pound dogs are constantly readjusting themselves on ridiculously too small beds that I’ve stuffed with bedding material that DOES NOT FIT.
After expressing my honest displeasure with Amberlii and Bow Wow Beds on Etsy, I was given retaliatory and unfair negative feedback, which brought down the rating for my extraordinarily small Etsy business. The Nate Berkus Show and HGTV obviously didn’t thoroughly investigate Bow Wow Beds to discover such hulking issues as drastic timing flaws, product misrepresentation and just plain owner jerkiness. So, who is a better alternative to Bow Wow Beds and their poorly constructed duvets? A quick search on Google shows the list, is nearly endless:
Orvis Dog Bed
1. Orvis has lots of beds with liners. The great thing about these beds is they will most likely ship within a day or two, they will come WITH the bedding material already inside of the cover and Orvis backs their products with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
2. Doctors Foster and Smith has an orthopedic bed with a liner that once again comes with the bedding material, ships almost immediately and has a guarantee.
3. Buddy Beds has beds, liners, shipping, a guarantee, plus Martha freaking Stewart.
Now I’m getting lazy, so I’m just going to start listing names of good places to buy dog beds that aren’t Bow Wow Beds: LL Bean, Senior Pet Products, Wag.com, Dawg-Tired.com, and The Dog Outdoors.com.

Just found this review of Bow Wow Beds. I wish I had seen it sooner. I am waiting for our dogs bed to arrive. I ordered it on Sept. 12th and now we are at Oct. 23rd. Crazy!! She gives the same excuse that fabric has been slow coming in. She already has her money for my order and here I sit and wait to get what I paid for. I live in the same town her business is….hopefully shipping will be a bit quicker. Even if the bed is amazing, I will never order from Bow Wow Beds agsin!!
Kristin-We waited an extremely long time for our beds as well and then we were sorely disappointed when they arrived. I can only hope that your experience improves when your package arrives in the mail! Please be careful with your Etsy review of Bow Wow Beds because I learned the hard way that their retaliatory feedback is not nice!
Just got the bed today, November 7th. Ordered on September 12th. The color seems off to me from what I thought it would be but she has changed the name of her colors online so I can’t even compare. I didn’t order through Etsy, I ordered directly from her website so I won’t be leaving feedback. I will not recommend Bow Wow Beds to anyone nor will I ever order from them again. I probably could have learned to sew and made a bed myself by the time it took for me to get it. Not sure how they remain in business.
As the owner of a small eCommerce website I was carrying these bed covers from Bow Wow Beds. I have had similar bad experiences with orders taking weeks and weeks to ship. I imagine I have lost some customers because of this. I do not recommend doing any business with this company. The owner is not a nice person. The quality and workmanship of the product has declined and the delay in getting orders shipped has increased drastically. I am putting this comment on here not as retaliation but as a service to others that might try to do business with this company. Don’t! Save your money and time.
I had the same problem with my order. I left neutral feedback (great product/went way beyond the promised approx. 25 business days shipping policy) and then received negative feedback within minutes. I see that a customer from yesterday (and past customers) also received the same retaliation. Not good Public Relations Bow Wow Beds!
I wish I had seen these comments before I placed my order 40 business days ago (her time frame is now 35-40 business days). Still no beds.
Karen- I’m so sorry you too have had problems with Bow Wow Beds. Unfortunately with Etsy they simply don’t care that customers are being taken advantage of by companies like Bow Wow Beds. I hope your package arrives soon!
My husband is having the same problems with bow wow beds. We ordered a bed from them a few years ago and got it no problem, now that they are in high demand seems like they can’t keep up. But that is no way to keep returning customers, we just got a refund on our bed because it was taking so long, very disappointed and will not be a returning customer!

Well guess what… Service is no better at time of this posting. They have my money and I have no bed. When I emailed, I was essentially told that I’d get it when I got it and if I didn’t like that they’d refund my money. I’d get fired if I treated people this way.
I truly despise welcoming you to the club, but there are a lot of us here. I’d ask for a refund and order from one of the companies I listed who will actually send you a bed. Best of luck!

Placed my Order Oct 06 2013, received my crate cover yesterday on 12/20/2013. Which lasted all of 22 hours before my 10month old German Shepherd found a way to rip it to shreds from inside the crate… I waited over 2 months, paid $80, and it lasted less than 24hrs. Super
Andrew, I’m very sorry you were taken by Bow Wow Beds’ pretty photos and empty promises. It happened to Team VP as well. We recently ordered a Molly Mutt bed for Blue and we love it. Blue does not chew, but she does lick and the Molly Mutt bed is unbelievable. We ordered the bed from Wag.com and received a new customer discount so a Huge bed was less than $58 and arrived two days after I ordered it. Just something to think about! Good luck.
I ordered a dog crate cover from Bow Wow on Jan 25 and received it today, May 9. Besides the extremely long creation time (during which my dog actually outgrew the crate I ordered the cover for), I also didn’t realize that straps/ties to roll up the sides weren’t integrated into the product design. That leaves the unused side flaps just piled on the top looking messy. Overall, I’m feeling disappointed and ripped off.
Jennifer, I am so sorry you too had problems. I have to tell you that I finally discovered Molly Mutt and I have not looked back. The Molly Mutt bed is washable and whole system is so incredibly easy to use. I ordered Blue’s bed directly from Molly Mutt and received it just four days later! They have crate covers and everything 🙂
I am dealing with the same problem. I ordered my cover Feb 10 and still have not received it. After seeing all these reviews I am nervous about the quality of it. Wish I would have seen these reviews before I placed my order. When I email them they seem upset that I am even inquiring about my order that a spent well over a 100 dollars for. They have a false excuse about everything. They promised delivery in “2 months max” and we are about to hit our 4 month mark. I will never order from them again and this will not only be my last review about them . Please beware of these reviews and move on to another company. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time or money.
Amanda, I’m sorry you were also sucked into the Bow Wow Beds order and wait scam. My best advice is to take a look at the awesome beds from . These beds are super durable and there is no annoying wait time between ordering and delivery. We bought Blue’s Molly Mutt bed over a year ago and I wash it once a week and it still looks fantastic.
I wish I’d read this blog before I ordered a canvas furniture cover (basically just a hemming job) from Bowwow Beds on May 12, 2014. It’s July 29, and I’m still waiting. I inquired about my order two weeks ago, and she replied that she had to hire another worker and would send me a tracking number. I’ve heard nothing from her since then.
It is Jan 2015 and I noticed the above reviews are from 2012. I ordered two bed items on Oct 15 and still have not received them- about 54 business days and still waiting. I sent over 4 emails to Bow Wow and the first few had excuses and the last one had somwhat of an apology for taking so long. I sent another today demanding the product be sent this week
Pam I’m very sorry you have had such a hard time with Bow Wow Beds. Unfortunately, my best advice to you is to simply cancel your order. I can recommend a really good dog bed through Molly Mutt. Either buy the bed directly through Molly Mutt, or check to see if Amazon, or any of the online retailers are having a sale. The beauty of Molly Mutt is they are fantastic beds, with immediate shipping and they are sturdy. Our Molly Mutt bed has been washed over and over and is like new. Best of luck!
I just received the crate cover I ordered after 3 1/2 months of waiting. Just as others stated, Bow Wow makes excuses about fabric shipment and sewing time when you request an update on your order status. I found the responses I got frustrating because these are machine sewn and it is such a simple design.
I wish I had found this post sooner…now that I have the cover I’m a bit disappointed given the amount of money I spent. On the one hand, the quality of work seems good and it seems durable. However, the color is definitely off and as another stated, if you go back to the website to compare colors they have changed the names so there’s really no way to prove that. Next time I will look elsewhere – I appreciate the recommendations!
Honestly I have no idea how Bow Wow Beds is still in business. There is nothing dog related worth $90 and a 7 week wait with still no product delivered. Unhappy customer. Nice to see your website here.
