I follow the weather kind of obsessively. My weather station is just the tip of the iceberg because I have a number of weather websites that I have grown to rely on as well. This morning when I woke up the radar looked like this:
My website of choice lately has been Weather Underground because I report my weather there, and of course, because of the accuracy of their forecasts, but I also like to branch out a little. Here are my other top picks in no particular order.
- Weather Spark: Weather Spark is a beautiful site that reports from NOAA, Met and WWO. They also have fantastic accuracy. Their ads are a bit distracting and can be eliminated for a minimal yearly fee.
- The Fucking Weather: The Fucking Weather is actually a site I use on Saturday and Sunday when I need to know the temperature very quickly. This site is no nonsense and no frills, but it gets the job done and it’s powered by Weather Underground, so I know it’s accurate.
- National Weather Service/NOAA Storm Prediction Center: The Storm Prediction Center is my go to website for severe weather. They are the website other websites go to, to get their information. They update their maps and watches before everyone else and their information is easy to understand because it’s broken down by region.
Wind Map: The Wind Map doesn’t predict any weather except the wind. It is an amazingly beautiful view of the current wind speed in the whole United States. The map is zoomable, so you can click on your hometown to see what the wind is like there.
While Blue, Frankie and I battle this incoming thunderstorm we’d love to hear about your favorite weather websites.
